Dave Parker was born in Oak Harbor, Washington in March of 1967. Dave’s father was a U.S. Navy officer whose career gave Dave the opportunity to live all over the world while growing up. Dave started his fascination with racing when he was twelve when he began racing bicycle motocross. After several years of racing bicycles, Dave’s need for more speed lead him to racing motocross on an 80cc Yamaha. Dave raced motocross regionally for several years before a hard crash ended his two wheel racing career in 1986.
While attending college, Dave began his sixteen year career in the automotive parts industry. Dave discovered grassroots sports car racing in 1996 after crewing for a friend who had been racing for several years. Dave got involved in flagging sports car races and began building his first racecar, a Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Dave started his car racing career in 2001, participating in the Washington DC Region of the Sports Car Club of America, Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Series (MARRS). Dave raced in the Improved Touring B category for three years before changing classes to race in Improved Touring C in a Volkswagen Scirocco. After three years racing in the Scirocco, Dave changed classes to the H Production category, which allows more preparation to the car (i.e. faster) in 2006. Dave finished second in season points in H Production in 2006. In 2007, Dave finished first in season points in the MARRS H Production class. Dave plans to race in the H Production category in 2008.
