Rich Hromin
Rich's race experience dates back to 1997 when he attended a Skip Barber school and first got his feet wet in motorsports. This actually didn't lead to racing immediately, instead it ignited a passion for racing which led him into a crewing job with a Motorola Cup Dodge Viper team until early 2000 when he began working for a Trans-Am team who fielded such drivers as Stu Hayner and Willy T Ribbs.
In 2000, Rich finally found time to obtain his SCCA license at a Pocono SCCA school where he first became aquainted with the King RAT as Alex was attending the same school and running in the same race group as Rich. Alex in the Porsche 944 and Rich in a rented Viper diced in the mock race in the pouring rain. From this meeting, Rich would become King RAT's very first race car rental customer.
In 2001, Rich managed to get some races under his belt and soon proved to be a clean and consistent driver. Throughout 2003 and 2004, he found more time to compete at Summit Point behind the wheel of King RAT's Porsche 944 and Spec Miata's with some good results. 2005 was a defining year for Rich He consistently demonstrated good car control under extreme pressure as he racked up 3 top ten finishes, including two 5th places and his first pole position racing in Spec Miata at Lime Rock and Summit Point.
Rich has been a valuable member of the King RAT 12 Hour team serving as Crew Chief in 2003 and as a driver in 2004, 2005 and 2007. In 2006, Rich competed in a full season of SCCA MARRS regional racing in the SM class finishing 7th in the standings.
For 2007, Rich stepped into the Lead Driver position for the King Rat team in a newly built Spec Miata which he drove to the NASA Mid-Atlantic Spec Miata Challenge Championship while also placed 5th in driver standigs in a partial MARRS SM season in support of teammate Payton Wilson's MARRS SM class Championship. Hromin and Wilson were also part of the King RAT SM class winning team in the 2007 12 Hours at the Point endurance race - finishing 4th overall.
In 2008 Rich's Participated in a few MARRS SM races with several top five finishes.
